This is an inspirational place for adventure and it’s one which builds a toolkit of life skills. It’s where magical islands and wildlife inspired writers and painters, and the Lake’s great length drew speed-boat acers and record making, plus the first seaplane trials.
You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to activities here with over 50 on offer. From sailing, canoeing and raft building, here’s a flavour of what you might be doing on Windermere, England’s largest lake, during your time with us.
Mountain expedition
Walk with a full expedition rucksack with everything you need. Travel through or over the mountains and have at least one night sleeping out in a tent with no one else for miles around. Expeditions are typically only one or two nights but can be longer.
King swing
Benefit from a personal challenge and learn about teamwork with our King Swing activity. It is a large swing, suspended between two trees. You will be hauled up to it by your team and then be released to swing through the trees. Challenge by choice is incorporated as the you decide how high to go before being released.
Challenge course
With this activity the team must traverse a series of low level challenges across wires and onto platforms without touching the ground. The course can only be completed with the help of your team mates. You will face obstacles and will need to problem solve as a team. The Challenge Course is designed to explore group interaction, problem-solving, and leadership and to develop trust, communication, co-operation, and planning skills. An excellent activity for slightly older groups.
Campfire and barbeque
Be led by our instructors or create your own activity. Your group may want to create a sketch, song, or play to perform at the campfire to the rest of your group. It is great for bonding, confidence building, and public speaking. And use a Barbecue activity to appreciate dark skies, being in the outdoors and reflecting on what you’ve done as a group.
